A warm one, a lifting one, a tea tree one and the rest of the sachets we would actually open, from $8 up.

Sheet Masks: Ten Minutes, One Sachet, and the Ones Worth Opening

A sheet mask is the simplest thing in skincare: a piece of cloth soaked in serum, held against the face by nothing but water, for the length of a podcast. Most are moisturizer with a sense of occasion. The good ones do one thing the bottle on your shelf cannot, and the trick is knowing which thing you are buying.

We opened with the one that changes the format. Immunocologie's Lava Mask arrives dry in its sachet and you fill it with warm water; the sheet swells, warms and holds that warmth on the face for five minutes, which is the difference between a sheet mask and a compress. Around it: a lifting mask from Tatcha, the calming Cicapair sheet from Dr. Jart, the three Mediheal sachets that have earned a permanent place, the PDRN Wrapping one among them, a 111SKIN rose gold treatment for the night before something, Peach & Lily's ginseng and collagen sheet, SKIN1004's Hyalu-Cica sachet, Torriden's fragrance-free Dive-In, and Biodance's caviar PDRN hydrogel, the one sheet here you sleep in.

One rule on the photographs, because it turned out to be the hard part: a sealed sachet standing upright, front on, and nothing else. No fanned five-packs, no floppy sheet on a mannequin, no hand. Several good masks missed the first version of this page for that reason alone. Two of them, the Biodance and the Mediheal Wrapping, are here now that a clean photograph exists.

This shelf grows. We add entries as products clear the bar, never to fill space.

Immunocologie Lava Mask, single
01

Immunocologie Lava Mask, single

Masks USA Approx. $15

Most sheet masks are a cold, wet sheet from a pouch. This one is a dry sheet that you activate: pour warm water into the sachet, no hotter than 110 degrees, and the sheet swells and warms as the lava mineral takes up the water. Five minutes on the face, then it comes off and the skin under it is hydrated and faintly flushed in the way a warm compress leaves it. The base is black lava rock from the brand's own patent, with red and brown marine algae and kelp for the hydration, magnesium and iron among the minerals, glycerin, and hibiscus oil for the scent. It comes as a single or a box of four, and we link the single because one is enough to know. A word on who should skip it: the brand says no if you have rosacea, eczema, inflamed acne or a compromised immune system, because of the warmth, and we agree.

  • Warm, not cold, which is the whole difference
  • Five minutes, and the sheet does the timing for you
  • Fifteen dollars for one, sixty for four

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask, single
02

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask, single

Masks Japan Approx. $27

The sheet is the reason. Biocellulose, grown from coconut water rather than woven from cotton, is dense enough to hold serum against the skin under its own weight, so it stays put for the full twenty minutes and the serum goes where it was meant to. Inside it, hyaluronic acid and red algae in Tatcha's usual fermented base. The result is a face that looks held for an evening, which is exactly what a twenty seven dollar single-use mask should buy and nothing more. Sold by Tatcha on Amazon, one mask, no box to throw away.

  • A sheet that stays on
  • The lifted look lasts an evening
  • Sold by the brand, one at a time
Texture
A coconut-derived biocellulose sheet, heavier and cooler than cotton, that clings to the face and does not slide

04

111SKIN Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask

Masks United Kingdom Approx. $135

The most photographed sheet mask in luxury skincare, and the one celebrity facialists hand out before red carpets. The mask shelf runs nine to two hundred and twenty five dollars; this is the occasion tier, sold by the single sachet, and it is a fair one-time ticket into a house whose jars start at two hundred.

  • The definitive occasion mask
  • Single sachets, so the entry price is one evening, not a jar

Mediheal Madecassoside Essential Face Sheet Mask
06

Mediheal Madecassoside Essential Face Sheet Mask

Masks South Korea Approx. $22

Mediheal sells sheet masks by the tens of millions in Korea, which means the format is refined even when the formula is simple. This one leads on madecassoside with niacinamide and aloe. The fragrance is the only real objection, and on reactive days it is enough of one.

  • Madecassoside rather than generic centella
  • A brand that only really does this

The finish is the point. Skin looks lit and bouncy for the evening, which is exactly what the sachet promises and nothing more. Eight dollars at Ulta, sold only there, and a sensible way to try the brand before the serum.

Biodance Rejuvenating Caviar PDRN Real Deep Mask, 4 sheets

Masks South Korea Approx. $19

Biodance's Collagen Real Deep Mask is the sheet mask that changed the format, a hydrogel you wear for hours until it goes transparent and vanishes, and this is the same mask with PDRN and caviar in the gel. It is the one sheet on this page that is not ten minutes: it is overnight, and it needs a clean face and a pillow you do not mind. Four for nineteen dollars, and the four-pack is the one to buy; the single costs more per sheet.

Mediheal PDRN Wrapping Serum Mask, 4 sheets

Masks South Korea Approx. $16

Mediheal is the sheet mask company, and the Wrapping line is its serum-first sachet: a thinner sheet and a heavier dose of the liquid, so it feels like a serum held on the face rather than a cloth. The parent listing comes in six types; this is the PDRN one, with squalane, and it is the type we would buy. Four dollars a sheet, which is the Mediheal price for a reason.
