Most sheet masks are a cold, wet sheet from a pouch. This one is a dry sheet that you activate: pour warm water into the sachet, no hotter than 110 degrees, and the sheet swells and warms as the lava mineral takes up the water. Five minutes on the face, then it comes off and the skin under it is hydrated and faintly flushed in the way a warm compress leaves it. The base is black lava rock from the brand's own patent, with red and brown marine algae and kelp for the hydration, magnesium and iron among the minerals, glycerin, and hibiscus oil for the scent. It comes as a single or a box of four, and we link the single because one is enough to know. A word on who should skip it: the brand says no if you have rosacea, eczema, inflamed acne or a compromised immune system, because of the warmth, and we agree.
